Crystal Animal Template

Creating a crystal animal.

The crystal animal template is an inherited template that can be added to any living corporeal creature with the animal or magical beast subtype (referred to hereafter as the base creature). A crystal creature retains all the base creature’s statistics and special abilities except as noted here.

Size and Type: Same as the base creature.

Speed: The base creatures land speed is unchanged, but it loses the ability to fly (unless it flew through magical means).

Armor Class: Natural armor improves by +2.

Special Attacks: The crystal animal retains all the special attacks of the base creature.

Attack: The crystal animal also gains a slam attack if it the base creature dose not already have one. The crystal animal’s slam attack deals damage as if the creature were one size category larger.

Full Attack: The crystal animal may use its slam attack as a secondary attack during its full attack action.

Special Qualities: A crystal animal retains all the base creature’s special qualities and gains those listed below.

Sonic Vulnerability (Ex): A crystal animal takes double damage from sonic attacks unless a save is allowed for half damage. A successful save halves the damage and a failure doubles it.

Darkvision (Ex): A crystal animal has darkvision out to 60 feet or the base creature’s darkvision, whichever is better.

Damage Reduction (Ex): A crystal animal gains damage reduction 10/ magic and bludgeoning.

Saves: Same as the base creature.

Abilities: Increase from base creature as follows: +2 Strength -4 Dexterity +4 Constitution +2 Wisdom.

Skills: A crystal animal gains a +16 racial bonus to Stealth in areas of crystal formations.

Feats: Same as the base creature.

Climate/Terrain: The Crystal Forest.

Organization: Same as the base creature.

Treasure: Same as the base creature.

Challenge Rating: Same as the base creature +2.

Alignment: Same as the base creature.

Advancement: Same as the base creature.
